Floating Cushion Drive Subs

The high cost and poor serviceability of Floating Cushion Drive Subs for drilling on the market today prompted one of our customers working in the Drilling Industry to come to us with an idea.

This idea was to design, analyse and build a suitable replacement unit that is not only economical for original procurement but more importantly "Serviceable" for longer overall life of the unit.

Our Engineers worked with the customer to come up with a Concept Design. This design was then 3D modelled and analysed using the latest technology to ensure the design was not only feasible but would handle the large loads required for its purpose. From this analysis and valuable customer feedback, improvements were then made to the overall design. After the final design was checked and final analysis was performed, the manufacture and assembly drawings were given to our In House CNC Workshop for manufacture and assembly.

Our CNC Workshop then manufactured the required components. All components were Quality Checked with particular attention taken to tolerances. After all components were Quality Assured, the unit was assembled in house.

The infield testing proved the unit was a great success. This client is now installing the product throughout their fleet of drilling equipment where cushion subs are required.
